I had the opportunity to talk to an budding entrepreneur recently. He was successful but a little stressed. He had so many things on his plate- with very little time to socialize but I was grateful he agreed to meet me.

When we got talking, he told me how he had a love-hate relationship with his work. He enjoys his work but sometime regrets not being able to take time off for his passion.

And if you are an entrepreneur, you know how difficult it can be. He told me that he was constantly under pressure, managing the team, analyzing the risks, maintaining the work-life balance…his list was pretty long.

He even told that there were times when he wanted to quit! I could understand- I have had these thoughts too when working on my business. These thoughts can break your spirit.

But luckily he also told me something that can help entrepreneurs like him! His ten rules were my mantra to have a a better business and a even better lifestyle.

10 must follow rules for entrepreneur that leads to a better work-life balance.

👉Managing finances
To keep it simple, if you can’t manage money, you can’t manage your own business. You cannot run a business without being able to manage your money.

👉Raising money for your business
All the businesses require funding. If you can’t raise money for your business, you wouldn’t be able to get the required assets and hence your business won’t grow.

👉 The ability to de-stress.
Stress in entrepreneurship isn’t anything to joke about. You will struggle as an entrepreneur if you allow yourself to get irritated and disturbed by failures. Keep going and keep learning.

👉 Networking
Befriend people of your industry. Make connections with people who will help you and inspire you to work on yourself and grow. Show genuine interest and offer help if needed.

👉 Identifying strengths and weaknesses
As an entrepreneur, you don’t have to be great at everything. You must, however, acknowledge your strengths and weaknesses and use them to your advantage.

👉 The ability to hire the right people
Having effective people will help you reach greater heights. As an entrepreneur, you need to be able to find the right people to work with. Don compromise on quality.

👉 Staff Management
Once you’ve found the right employees, you must manage them effectively. You’ll be everyone’s manager early on in your company’s growth, so you need to be effective, compassionate yet a firm leader your team can look upto.

👉 Closing a sale
It is important to let the customers know that you understand their pain but it is very difficult to convince them that your product is the solution. Don’t do it! Don’t tell them your features; show them what it does for your customers.

👉 Spotting new trends
Since business evolves quickly, you must be able to anticipate changes in your industry. Make it a point to stay up to date on new startups and technological advancements which might be positioned to disrupt your industry.

👉 Dealing with failure
There is no such thing as a straight road to success in business; understanding how to deal with ups and downs is vital. Remember that every successful person in the world failed hundreds of times before finally succeeding.

I lack a few of them myself but it is never too late to start working on yourself. Don’t let your fear overrun you! Instead, become better at what you do. Make sure you don’t feel burnt out at the end of the day. Take time to relax, rejuvenate and get back stronger..

“A true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer”

Dream big but make sure you take the steps to achieve those dreams.
